Repair or replacement

Does Your Siding Need Repair or Replacement?

Not every siding problem calls for a full replacement. We look at the extent of the damage, the condition of the surrounding siding, and whether a suitable match is available before recommending the right next step.

A Repair May Be Enough

  • A few cracked or loose boards
  • Damage limited to one elevation
  • A close product match is still available
  • Siding still in good overall condition

Replacement May Make More Sense

  • Soft, swollen, or rotting boards
  • Fading, chalking, or peeling across the house
  • Gaps and failed caulk throughout
  • Siding nearing the end of its service life
  • A discontinued product with no match

Frequently asked questions

Siding questions, answered.

Have something else in mind? Let’s talk about your project.

How do I know if my siding needs to be replaced?

Widespread rot, swelling, or damage across a whole elevation usually points toward replacement, while a cracked panel or a few loose boards can often be repaired. Age and whether a matching product is still available also matter. We’ll look at the exterior with you and explain what we see before recommending either option.

What siding materials do you offer?

Vinyl, James Hardie fiber cement, and LP SmartSide engineered wood. Each has a different appearance, cost, and maintenance profile. We’ll compare the products that fit your home and the finish you want.

Can you repair just one section of siding?

Often, yes. Whether a limited repair makes sense depends on the condition of the surrounding siding and whether a close match is available for the existing product. Older or weathered siding can be hard to match, and we’ll tell you when working across a larger area will give a better result.

Will new siding match what is already on my home?

An exact match isn’t always available, especially for discontinued or sun-faded products. We’ll discuss the closest options and whether replacing a full elevation makes sense for the appearance you want.

Can siding and roofing be planned together?

Yes. Roofing, siding, trim, and related framing are often connected, and scoping them together keeps the details lined up instead of scheduling separate trades against each other. Tell us at the start and we’ll plan the work as one project.

Do you offer free siding estimates?

Yes. Use the form on this page or call (828) 989-7729. We’ll schedule a time to look at the exterior and put a written scope together.

What warranties are available?

Maple Ridge Builders provides a workmanship warranty for qualifying installation work, with project-specific written terms. Product warranties come from the siding manufacturer and depend on the material installed and its care requirements. We’ll review what applies to your project before work begins.
